Place Vendome is a square laid out in 1702 as a monument to the armies of Louis XIV.
The first few days of our visit the Vendome Column had a birds-nest type structure at the top by a Japanese artist. Several buildings around the square had similar structures.
The artistry of the bird's nest escaped me.
The square is populated by very high end jewelry stores.
By the last day of our visit, Vendome Column had been restored to normal.
We just missed the Christmas Tree decorations.
This building at 1 Place Vendome served as the Embassy of the Republic of Texas to the Republic of France from 1842-1843.
A plaque on the building commemorates the history of the building, which is now a 5 star hotel.
