Notre Dame is on an island in the Seine where the city of Paris was founded. Construction began in 1163 and was completed between 1250 and 1345.

Sainte-Chapelle was completed in 1248. It was built by King Louis IX to house Christ's Crown of Thorns. It is almost hidden from the outside, but inside the extensive stained glass windows and magnificent ceilings are truly impressive.
La Madelein was designed as a temple to honor Napoleon's Army in 1808. After Napoleon's fall, it was decided that the structure would be used as a church.
